Integration courses – What you should know

We offer integration courses commissioned by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge (BAMF)). The answers to the most important questions regarding this topic are listed below.

You will be informed about our course selection and tested for your German language skills at our free level evaluation. The evaluation is free of charge.

Every wednesday from 3.30 to 5 p.m. and every thursday from 2.30 to 4.30 p.m. (except during school holidays), room „Lernpunkt“

The complete course consists of six language modules from levels A1 to B1. Every module is composed of 100 course lessons. The seventh module is the orientation course. Here you will learn about Germany‘s history, its political structures as well as its culture. The aim of the integration course is to enable you to pass the final examination. This consists of a language test and the "Living in Germany" test. Find out more on the following pages.

If you own a certificate of eligibility you, yourself, must pay 220 Euro for one module, the rest will be paid by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

In special cases you might receive an exemption from costs, which means that you won‘t have to pay for the course at all.

As a self-payer (without a certificate of eligibility) you must pay 440 Euros for one module.

You are a permanent immigrant from a non-EU country. In this case you will receive this certificate from the immigration authorities. This means that you are obliged to attend an immigration course.

You are from an EU country and are registered for permanent residency in Germany: You can apply for admission at the BAMF. We help you to do so at our free level evaluation.

If you are receiving unemployment benefits or social welfare. You will need a notice from the Jobcenter or the social welfare office in order to apply for an exemption from costs at the BAMF. We will be glad to help you do so at our free level evaluation. An exemption from costs only applies if the BAMF gives you a positive reply.

You must excuse yourself for each day, you are not attending class. If possible, you must bring verification for your absence. Acceptable reasons for being excused from class are for example illness, child’s illness or urgent visits to the authorities.

If the given reasons are not sufficient you will have days of unexcused absence.
The BAMF does not pay for these days.

Yes. But you have the possibility of deregistering before the second course date (in written form for the service team). You will have to pay a cancellation charge of 5 Euros.me to class?
